Chocolate Quotes That Tempt The Tongue

If you’re a true chocoholic you’re bound to have a few favorite chocolate quotes. Below we share some of our favorite chocolate quotes that have helped shape the way we think about chocolate.

One 17th century woman had very strong and changing opinions on chocolate as evidenced by three of her quotes that have endured the test of time. We found these byte-size tidbits at the Choco-Story Chocolate Museum in Brugge.

“If you are not well at all or have not slept, chocolate will revive you.” Madame de Sevigne, February 11, 1671.

Perhaps the Madame overindulged on chocolate as she gives a thumbs-down to the delicacy just two months later:

”All who have spoken well of it have lied. Do not support it. It is no longer in fashion.” Madame de Sevigne, April 15, 1671

Boy, fashions changed quick back then! Apparently the Madame changed her tune again – perhaps after one too many boring dinner parties.

“Take chocolate in order that even the most tiresome company seems acceptable to you.” Madame de Sevigne, sometime in 1672

Gotta love Madame de Sevigne!

Here are some other chocolate quotes on the tip of our tongue:
